ABOUTTATA Design Workshop is a Houston-based architecture and design studio established in 2025 with a mission to create beautiful spaces with craft and care, bringing together our love for construction and a sensibility for design as a process of discovery. We are idealistic pragmatists; at the heart of our work is the balance of analysis and intuition to deliver solutions that draw out the latent potentials in the cultures of place, history, and materials that make up every project. Our combined experience in design collaboration with both experts and stakeholders on projects ranging in scale from gardens to high-profile urban development informs our responsive approach to use, context, and the need to get things done right.



PRINCIPALS

Hannah Lucia Terry spent her childhood between the former rangeland prairies outside Dallas and the sea-breeze on the Gulf. Her artistic work, which focuses on the medium of collage, delves into fantastical ecologies and speculative worlds. She has applied her knowledge of architecture to a diverse range of work spanning set design, residential landscapes, and boutique hospitality projects. Terry teaches at the University of Houston and is a graduate of Princeton University and Texas A&M University. 

Ian Ting is a registered architect and designer with a background in fabrication and robotics. His work and writing drive the strategic, research-driven process at TATA, with an emphasis on constructability, social and material responsibility, and thinking across scales. He brings experience in large-scale building projects requiring high levels of coordination and interdisciplinary collaboration. He teaches at Rice University and the University of Houston, is a certified gantry-crane operator, and holds degrees from Princeton University and the University of Michigan.
